Save the Puppers: Help Stop Puppy Mills

  • Gem City Catfe 1513 East 5th Street Dayton, OH, 45403 United States (map)

Ohio is an infamous puppy mill state. We need to gather over 400,000 signatures statewide to put this measure on the November 2018 ballot to enact laws to protect at risk dogs. Join us Monday from 5 - 7pm at the Catfe at 1513 E 5th St in Dayton to sign the petition. You must be a registered Ohio voter.

What is a puppy mill?

A puppy mill is a large-scale, commercial dog-breeding facility where profit is given priority over the well-being of the animals themselves, according to the ASPCA. These facilities are usually overcrowded with unsanitary conditions, making some or all of the animals sick while depriving them of socialization and adequate food and water needs.

"Stop Puppy Mills Ohio" plans to get the issue of puppy mills on a ballot for Ohioans to vote on, so facilities like those previously described can cease to exist. To volunteer, donate, or get in touch with Stop Puppy Mills Ohio, visit their website.

Why is this needed?

Twelve Ohio breeders appeared in The Humane Society of the United States “Horrible Hundred 2017” report, demonstrating the animal welfare issues that persist in Ohio puppy mills, including:

- Dogs in immediate need of veterinary care, including dogs who were found to be weak, lethargic, limping and suffering from sores, skin lesions and severe matting, and dogs potentially exposed to illness from dead, decomposing puppies
- Enclosures that were filthy with feces and other grime
- Rusted wire cages and unsafe structures
- Insufficient and filthy food and water

Please help us shed light on this issue and get this measure on the ballot. Join us Monday from 5 - 7pm at the Catfe at 1513 E 5th St in Dayton to sign the petition. You must be a registered Ohio voter.
